SQ & MI orders!!

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Singapore Airlines Ltd. (S55.SG) said Wednesday it will buy another nine Airbus A380s with an option for a further six of the superjumbos.
On top of this, the carrier is planning to lease 19 Airbus A330s and its regional airline, Silk Air, is ordering 20 Airbus A320s, SIA said at a press conference.

Hmm, i guess the further order of the A380s were sort of expected..
How abt the A320s? Expansion of fleet or replacement?

I think SIA should retain its uniqueness in being the largest B777 operator in the world ... I guess, those A320s are more of a replacement ... and probably, to buffer as delays in A380s and B787s delievery ...

Hmm, looks like the A320s are an expansion for the MI fleet.
There is still one A320 which MI has yet to recieve from its order from 2000.
The new order looks like 11 firm and 9 options.
SQ will replace a number of the tiple sevens though. after the A350s and 787s come online. -
I think it is also buying some more boeing planes

SQ to buy more Boeing ? Maybe but there is still an Airbus order waiting for SQ to comfirm and that is the order for 20 A350XWB plus another 20 options . Now it's time for Airbus to prove to SQ that plane is worth buying.
As for MI's order, some of the A320s will be replaced by new units. The remaining ones will be used for expansion. Hope this helps. -

Apart from e A380 n A330,SIA ordered 20 A350 + option for 20 more n 20 B787 + option for 20 more. which option SIA will take depend on e type performace in our service so only 1 of e option will be taken.
In addition SIA might replace it A340 with B 777-200LR when they become available
For cargo no plans yet but with so many B777 in our service, they look like e future replacements

Does SIA have a money printing department as a side business?
Anyway, I feel that some of SIA's choice of planes are to balance the ties they have with both Manufacturers.
They replaced A340 with B777 but bought a token amount of A340-500.
Likewise, it doesn't make sense for them to buy A330 but at the same time have B777. If they are leasing the A330, would it be for SIA use or for SALE use? -
I dont know about 772LR replacing the A340 but I heard that the 787-9 may take over the A340's job instead. That we should see. O yes, SQ will be taking delivery of 19 A330-300s as an interim measure until the first A350 arrives presumably they sign the contract to purchase 20+20 A350-900s. LOL (Letter of intent) hopefully will becomes a firm order ! Fingers cross .
SQ B747-400Fs ? Unlikely they will be replaced with 772LRF . I say most probably they will order B747-800i to replace them. A380F is not proven yet. Emirates already converted 2 Freighters to Pax . FedEX has cancelled the A380s and now UPS are considering their next step. -
SQ is known to be a very demanding customer.
Anyone still remember the stunt they pulled with the A340? -

The A340 stunt appears to me that they seem like they bought the wrong aircraft like they had bought MD11s -

No one saw that coming.. And it allows Boeing to take a look at their rivals aircraft and also lease or sell the planes out again.
It wasnt the wrong aircraft but instead in par with the 777-200ers that they switch with boeing.
I remember taking the celestars to New Zealand.
Airbus got so shocked and angry that they threatened to no provide support to anyone who bought the planes from boeing.
