The BMW 801 twin row radial engine formed the basis of the Focke Wulf fw190 design. This engine has the reputation as being among the better engine designs of WWII. It also powered many other Luftwaffe aircraft. Like most German aero engines, the BMW 801 did not have a carburetor, but featured direct fuel injection. -

Aren't these the greatest aircraft along? A Shuttle, the re-usable 'aircraft' that goes to space and back, and these SCA (Shuttle Carrier Aircraft), both of which are -100 variants and the foreground is a ex JAL -SR46, JA8117 then (sistership to JA8119 which was a/c of the worse single aircraft accident in 1985 till now).
Hope these aircrafts can be flying as long as their operational life holds, two of the oldest 747s around... -
there was a B-17 at the airport in town for the past couple of days. today i went to check it out and took some photos.
