LOCAL telcos SingTel and StarHub still cannot meet the asking price for rights to broadcast the 2010 World Cup.
The Straits Times understands that the latest joint bid by the telcos was rejected recently by Fifa.
A person familiar with discussions, but who did not want to be named, said: 'The bids have not been accepted.
Shouldn't FAS, Mediacorp, Sports Council, MDA, Starhub, Singtel and Government agencies all come together to solve this problem?
Without a Singapore soccer team in the World Cup by 2010, I can understand but cannot even watch the Games "live" in Singapore - Isn't it a Joke. Singapore - World Class! My Singapore, Uniquely Singapore.

who cares abt the gov who don care for us?
wanna push the GDP high high, now other ppl wanna charge us high high also, thinking the nation is rich.. what bull sheet is our gov getting us into, i don blame singtel or starhub, since the bid price is already so high.. u tink WC stupid enuff to let a rich nation get the broadcast rights cheaply??? they`re already preparing their butcher knife already..

It is just Football, won't die without watching it.
Why spend so much to watch people kicking balls? Don't give in to them. They are charging us too much =.=

World Cup is just 58 days away and still no confirmation of a 'Live' broadcast! Businesses need the confirmation for their marketing plans.
Wait till Last minute, How can?!
It's not something that we can't do without. Get over it.
