Liverpool have confirmed that they beat Wednesday night's transfer deadline to sign Paraguayan teenager Ronald Huth.
The defender has moved to Anfield on a two-and-a-half year deal after opting to leave his former employers Tacuary FC.
The signing of the 17-year-old was the final step in Rafa Benitez's mission to infuse his squad with a wealth of young talent in January, following the signings of Jordy Brouwer, Astrit Ajdarevic, Daniele Padelli, Emiliano Insua and Francisco Duran.
Any potential work permit issues for The Reds' latest deal have been avoided by virtue of the fact that Huth holds an Italian passport.
The defender now becomes the only Paraguayan currently plying his trade in the English top flight as he looks to continue his education on Merseyside.
Not the ex-Chelsea defender Robert Huth ah..
