West Ham owner Eggert Magnusson has admitted for the first time that he fears for the club's Premiership future.
But the Icelander claims he has no intention of walking out on the club even if the worst happens.
Magnusson has sanctioned some £18 million for Alan Curbishley to spend in the January transfer window, including £6million on Matthew Upson on transfer deadline day.
But, despite the cash injection, The Hammers' plight at the foot of the table and the prospect of a return to the Championship remains.
"We have looked at the possibility of going down," conceded Magnusson.
"I don't believe for one minute we will but if the worst does happen we will have enough funds to go straight back up."
