Tottenham Hotspur boss Martin Jol has admitted he blocked any move for Mido during the transfer window.
The Egyptian, who scored in Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final with Arsenal, had been strongly linked with a move away from White Hart Lane last month.
Manchester City, Celta Vigo and Portsmouth were all thought to be lining up moves for the former Ajax, Marseille and Roma hit-man.
Jol admits Mido could have left the club, but he decided to keep the striker after losing Dimitar Berbatov to injury.
"There was an opportunity for Mido to leave but I want him to stay, so that is the end of it," Jol said.
Jol also confirmed Aaron Lennon missed the defeat to Arsenal because of illness.
The England international was originally included in the starting line-up, but he was forced to withdraw late on because of illness and Jol admitted it was a major blow to lose the flying winger.
"Aaron was in the starting line-up, but he felt sick after dinner," added Jol.
"He came back later and felt fine, but just before kick-off, he felt sick again.
"It can happen - the only thing with Lennon is he is on fire and could have given us a spark."
