Ajax have completed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids on an 18-month deal.
The Dutch midfielder had fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane this season and has been allowed to leave North London in order to return to the club that first catapulted him to international fame.
After making his debut for the Amsterdam outfit in 1991, Davids went on to win three Eredivisie titles, the Uefa Cup and the 1995 UEFA Champions League title in his first spell for the Dutch giants.
The tenacious tackler left the club in 1996 to join Milan, but after spending more than a decade playing with the cream of the continent's sides has now returned to the Amsterdam ArenA.
Davids will bring an element of steel and class to Henk ten Cate's midfield and could make his debut in Saturday's clash with rivals Feyenoord.
After playing a prominent role in Spurs fifth-placed finish last term, Davids only appeared nine times in the Premiership this season.
