Wigan Athletic have wrapped up the capture of Chesterfield striker Caleb Folan for £500,000.
The Spireites hit-man had been talking with The Latics over a move on Friday and has now signed a three-and-a-half year deal at The JJB.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has seen Folan in action and believes the Leeds-born striker has the attributes to succeed in the Premiership.
"I've watched the lad twice in person, while the club has also scouted him on a number of other occasions," Jewell told the club's official website.
"I think he's got what it takes to play at the top level. He's strong, he's aggressive, he's got a finisher's instinct and I think he will add competition in an area where the squad needs bolstering.
"I've always maintained I will never buy a player unless I think he can add something to my squad, and Caleb is no different. I think the lad's got it, simple as that."
Folan believes the chance to join Wigan was too good to turn down, despite it being a major wrench leaving Chesterfield.
"Every player dreams of being in the Premiership, and although it's difficult for me to leave Chesterfield, this is an amazing opportunity," said Folan.
