Middlesbrough have been granted a work permit for their new South Korean signing Lee Dong-gook.
The 27-year-old has penned an 18-month contract at The Riverside after he impressed manager Gareth Southgate during a trial stint.
Boro have brokered a deal with his former club Pohang Steelers and will not actually pay a fee for Lee, who had only a matter of months left on his contract with them.
As part of the deal, should Lee return to Korea then Boro will not receive a fee and should he be sold on to any other league in the world - the two clubs will split the proceeds 50-50.
Lee is now back in South Korea awaiting a visa before he can begin his new life in England.
It is the second time Lee has signed for a European team as earlier in his career he had a short, unsuccessful spell with German outfit Werder Bremen.
