Dunga has assured Adriano that he will soon be back in the Brazilian fold if he continues to play well.
The striker endured a difficult World Cup and struggled to rediscover his best form for Internazionale in the first half of the season.
He was dropped to the bench by Roberto Mancini before Christmas but has since come back into the starting line-up and continued his resurgence with a goal in the 3-1 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.
And Dunga, who has looked to include new blood at the expense of underperforming 'stars' since taking over from Carlos Alberto Parreira as Brazil boss, has promised Adriano that the door is still open.
"If he keeps performing positively he will win back his place in the squad," said Dunga.
"I'm following him with a lot of interest.
"He is a champion. Only those who do not know him would say he is finished.
"I would also like to congratulate Inter for waiting and defending him. Mancini has done well to reintroduce him at the right time."
