Ryan Giggs believes Paul Scholes has made all the difference to United's season.
The 32-year-old central midfielder is regarded by many as a potential candidate for the Premiership's Player of the Year award alongside Reds winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
It's a remarkable turnaround when it is considered there were doubts over the future of his career last season following a serious eye injury.
Giggs acknowledges there is a marked difference between a United team with Scholes absent and the one that now tops the Premiership.
"We have seen now how much we missed him last season when he was out, " the Welshman has been quoted as saying. "At the time [the eye problem] was such a mystery, so everyone was a bit worried.
"He doesn't say much, so we didn't know fully what was going on and he was still out there at times booting the ball around the training pitch. But it was a concern.
"We are pleased to have him back playing so well, because there is no other player like him. He is class."
The midfielder schemer will need to be at his best again when the Reds travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Scholes is likely to be in more commanding form. In September, it was only his second match of the season after serving out a three-match ban for a pre-season red card.
