China international Dong Fangzhou has signed a new deal with Manchester United and has been cleared to play for the Barclays Premiership leaders.
The 21-year-old forward has signed a contract which lasts until 2010 and is now able to make his competitive debut having received a work permit.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told official club website www.manutd.com: “We're all excited he has eventually arrived and can start playing.
“He sacrificed two-and-a-half years at Royal Antwerp, which showed great patience and determination.
“He is quick and athletic and he can only improve by training with the first-team squad here.”
United signed Dong from Dalian Shide three years ago, but the player has since been loaned out to United's feeder club Antwerp in order to gain the work permit.
