Germany keeper Timo Hildebrand is on the verge of signing for Valencia, according to reports in the Spanish press.
The Stuttgart shot-stopper, who is understudy to Arsenal's Jens Lehmann in Germany's national team, had recently turned down the chance to sign a new contract at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadium and informed the Swabians that he is keen on a new challenge abroad when his contract expires in the summer.
Valencia appeared as initial favourites to win his signature and the 27-year-old now looks likely to put pen to paper under a contract which would commit him to the Mestella until 2011.
"The deal is as good as settled, there are only some minor details which needs to be figured out," Valencia's director of sport Amadeo Carboni told Marca.
