West Ham United have boosted their battle to avoid relegation with the signing of Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Calum Davenport for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old, who previously had a spell on loan with the Hammers, has penned a contract running until the summer of 2010 at Upton Park.
Davenport started his career with Coventry City, before securing a move to Spurs in the summer of 2004, but he was loaned out to West Ham almost straight away.
He impressed in a two-month stint with the Irons, making ten appearances before heading back to White Hart Lane.
Davenport was also loaned out to Southampton and Norwich City during his time with Spurs, while he made just 20 first-team appearances for the north London club.
Meanwhile, Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is also reported to be close to securing the services of Blackburn Rovers full-back Lucas Neill, who has turned down a switch to Liverpool.
