Dirk Kuyt believes Liverpool must beat Chelsea this weekend if they have any aspirations of finishing second.
Although the Merseysiders are currently third in the Premiership, they currently trail Jose Mourinho's troops by a massive eight points.
Liverpool could close the gap on the champions this weekend, live on Sky Sports 1, but know only a win at Anfield will do.
A Didier Drogba thunderbolt was the difference between the sides back in September, however, Kuyt is warning The Blues to expect a different Reds outfit this time around.
"If we want to have a chance of second place, we know we have to beat them," Kuyt stated.
"But we've shown we are in good form in the Premiership. We could be meeting Chelsea at a good moment for us.
"We're playing better than we were when we last met. We know we're ready for Chelsea.
"We know if we are going to win the title it's something we've got to improve on and get right over the next few years.
"But I don't think there is a big gap between us and Chelsea, Manchester United or Arsenal."
