Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged Manchester United's fringe players to bide their time.
Solskjaer believes those individuals not guaranteed to play week-in week-out must be patient and wait for their opportunity to shine.
The Norwegian stepped off the substitutes' bench to fire United to glory against Bayern Munich in the final of the UEFA Champions League in 1999, and feels someone else may become an unlikely hero this season.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney have starred for United this season but Solskjaer knows everyone must contribute.
"We have seen plenty of occasions when the full squad has been utilised," he explained.
"In the Champions League in 1999 I didn't play in either the quarter-finals or the semi-finals. That shows it's a matter of being patient.
"It's all about having the players who can stand up at the right time and say 'it's my turn now'.
"We know the likes of Cristiano and Wayne can't win every game for us."
Solskjaer hopes United can extend their lead at the top beyond six points when they travel to Arsenal on Sunday, as Chelsea face an equally difficult trip to Liverpool.
But Solskjaer feels United will be in a strong position regardless of what happens this weekend, as they are ahead of Chelsea at this stage of the season for the first time in three years.
"We don't want to be chasing. We made a good job of it last season but, deep down, we knew it would have been very difficult to win the league," he admitted.
"Now, we want to make sure we keep getting the right results to put us in a good position when these really big games come along."
