Everton are ready to allow David Weir to join Rangers until the end of the season.
New Gers manager Walter Smith is looking to be reunited with the defender he worked with during his time in charge of the Scotland national team.
Reports suggest Weir will link up with the Old Firm giants on loan for the rest of the campaign, with Everton agreeing to his departure.
The 36-year-old's agent Dave Lockwood has confirmed that talks are taking place regarding an imminent transfer.
"It would be fair to say his choice would be Ibrox," Lockwood told BBC Scotland.
"Everton reluctantly agreed that if David wants to go and play regular football then he can leave and continue his career elsewhere.
"Walter has spoken to David and David has spoken to David Moyes.
"But, if it works out, he will be going to Rangers."
Weir joined Everton from Hearts almost eight years ago, but has been restricted to just five Premiership appearances this season.
