Southampton boss George Burley insists Gareth Bale will not be going anywhere this month.
The teenage defender has been strongly linked with a move away from St Mary's in the transfer window after catching the eye of a number of top clubs.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all thought to be battling it out to sign the Welsh international.
However, Burley insists Bale will stay at Southampton until the end of the season at least.
"There is no change in the situation. I spoke to his parents last week and they are very happy," said Burley.
"Gareth will certainly be here until the end of the season and hopefully a lot longer."
Burley revealed that the club were in talks with Bale about extending his contract for a further year.
"We are talking to him and hopefully we can extend his contract, but he is certainly going to be a Southampton player until the end of the season," added Burley.
