Henrik Larsson is hoping to build on the signs of promise from his first game alongside Wayne Rooney for Manchester United.
The Swede, on a 10-week loan from Helsingborgs, made his United debut in last week's FA Cup third round tie with Aston Villa.
He marked his bow with the opening goal, after collecting a pass from Rooney before volleying past Gabor Kiraly.
Larsson was happy with his goal and believes there were positive signs to emerge from his pairing with Rooney.
"We had some nice little combinations and we were able to find each other at important moments," Larsson told his personal website.
"The goal was one of those. Wayne received the ball and at first I nearly ran into him.
"But I made some space, so when the ball came to me I touched it and shot more or less in one movement. It was a lovely feeling as it hit the net."
The veteran striker could continue his fledgling partnership with Rooney against Villa in the Premiership on Saturday, although he is not getting carried away.
He added: "I was happy with my fitness and sharpness, but I can't get carried away because this was just one game.
"One swallow doesn't make a summer and I know I need to keep working hard and improving.
"When I play next is up to the boss, but whether I come on as a substitute or play from the start, I will be doing my best."
