Wigan look set to seal a major transfer coup after Lyn Oslo agreed to let starlet Chinedu Ogbuke join The Latics.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona are just some of the clubs to have taken a keen interest in the Nigerian.
The 20-year-old, known as Edu in Norway, saw a move to Lokomotiv Moscow fall through last month and he is now in line to move to The JJB Stadium.
Lyn are ready to let Ogbuke leave but are desperate to avoid a transfer wrangle after last season's John Obi Mikel saga - which eventually saw him join Chelsea.
Now Lyn are letting Ogbuke's agent John S.h.i.t.tu finalise a move and they have agreed to let him go on a short loan to Wigan - with a view to a permanent deal.
"We have not been in contact with Wigan, but Ogbuke is going to Wigan on loan for a couple of weeks, then we'll see what happens," said Lyn sporting director Torgeir Bjarman.
"We said if that is what S.h.i.t.tu and Edu want, they have permission to do that.
"I won't speculate on any transfer fees and he has a return ticket in a couple of weeks.
"The only thing I want to say is that if he is not sold, we have a superb attacker, but if he is sold it will be for a good amount of money."
Norwegian sources claim that Wigan have already agreed to pay £3million for Ogbuke - who will discuss personal terms when he arrives at the club this week.
