Hamilton Academical have confirmed Liverpool have tabled an offer for their in-demand starlet Jamie McCarthy.
The 16-year-old is one of the most exciting young talents in Scotland and recently became the club's youngest ever scorer following his Scottish Cup strike against Livingston.
Reading are favourites to land McCarthy as he is training with the Premiership outfit, but Liverpool are unwilling to let The Royals have it all their own way.
Hamilton boss Billy Reid has confirmed The Reds have given the youngster food for thought, but as yet the playmaker has not decided where his future lies.
"Liverpool have made an offer for Jamie but he has not refused or accepted it as yet," confirmed Reid.
"Reading are a well-run team as are Liverpool. We're not in a hurry to sell.
"He will take it as it comes and make the right decision for himself."
