Stuart Pearce has admitted that Manchester City midfielder Claudio Reyna could be seeking a return to the United States due to family concerns.
Reports at the weekend had suggested that the former Rangers and Sunderland man had already flown to his homeland, with New York Red Bulls linked with a move for the former international captain.
Whilst Pearce insists reports of Reyna's departure are certainly premature, the City boss has revealed that the Premiership club are in talks with the player's representatives about a possible January exit.
"For his personal reasons, we are in talks with him and his representatives due to that he might want to go back to the States," Pearce told the club's official website.
"That's purely a family scenario. Until anything is resolved on that, he stays a Manchester City player.
"Players will only be allowed to leave if it is in the best interests of the football club."
