Kevin Davies is expecting to sign a new Bolton Wanderers contract 'in days'.
The forward's current deal expires at the end of the season and there had been nagging worries Davies could leave on a free transfer.
In recent weeks an agreement on a three-year extension has been edging closer, with manager Sam Allardyce admitting it will be a big boost for the club.
Davies is not concerned about the situation and confirmed his intention to resolve the issue in the coming days.
"It is not something I am panicking about," Davies told the club's official website.
"We're both moving closer, the club and myself, and hopefully it will be tied up in days.
"Hopefully it will be three years, maybe three-and-a-half."
Meanwhile, Davies acknowledged his pride at being named Bolton captain for the first time for Saturday's 4-0 FA Cup win at Doncaster Rovers.
He added: "It was a bit of a surprise to be made captain, but I'm very proud.
"I had done it once in pre-season, but that was the first time in a competitive game.
"It gave me a lift. I had a few texts from Kevin Nolan, he's sweating a bit now on his captaincy!"
