Former Bolton striker Jared Borgetti has revealed he is eyeing a return to the Mexican international setup after signing for Cruz Azul.
Borgetti, who spent an underwhelming spell with the Trotters in the Premiership, has completed a move back to his homeland from Al Ittihad after agreeing to cancel his contract with the Saudi Arabian side.
Now Mexico's all-time record goalscorer has set his sights on an international return under new boss Hugo Sanchez, after initially retiring following the World Cup finals in Germany over the summer.
"I said that I wasn't going to play any more for the national team but now I would like to have the chance to retire from duty after the Copa America or the Gold Cup," said Borgetti.
"I know that I am not going to be in the plans of the coach for the next World Cup so if I have a good performance at Cruz Azul I expect to be recalled to the national team for these competitions."
Borgetti has also spoken of his delight at returning to Mexico after failing to settle at both Bolton and Al Ittihad.
"I am very happy to come back home and most of all because such an important team as Cruz Azul is interested in me.
"I am very happy for having the chance to play in Mexican football again, I missed my country a lot after being in Bolton and Al Ittihad."
