Valencia defender Roberto Ayala is being linked with a move to Chelsea after he failed to reach a new agreement with the club beyond June.
The Argentina captain's contract with the Spanish side expires in six months and after failing to reach a further deal, he is now free to negotiate a move with Chelsea, with Liverpool and Villarreal also reportedly interested in Ayala's services.
Gustavo Masccardi, the player's agent, said: "Ayala is free to discuss the best deal with a club but we have not initiated any meetings. We have quite a bit of time."
When asked about the possibility of a move to the Premiership, Masccardi added: "It's true that some clubs have asked for details on Ayala and not just now.
"Over the last few years he has received transfer interest from other clubs but Valencia have always rejected the option."
Chelsea are among the sides who have reportedly taken an interest in Ayala in the past along with Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle.
The Blues' current injury plight could see them make a move this month to land the 33-year-old South American.
