Derby County have signed Manchester United midfielder David Jones on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old, who initially joined the Championship high-flyers on loan back in November, has formally ended his United career after moving to The Rams in a deal worth £1million plus appearances.
Jones, who played last season on loan with Championship rivals Preston North End and Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Pride Park outfit.
"I'm delighted to have secured the services of such a talented young player," Rams boss Billy Davies told the club's official website.
"I'm sure from what he's shown for The Rams so far that the Derby fans will know we've signed a first-class footballer.
"David has settled in really well at the club and shown signs of his quality. I'm sure he will get better and better the more games he plays.
"As I've said so many times, we've got a long-term plan at this football club, so with his age, potential and ability, I see no reason why a player like David can't be a major influence in a Derby shirt."
With Jones's arrival, Derby have allowed midfielder Paul Thirlwell join League One side Carlisle United for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old completes a permanent move to The Cumbrians after spending three months on loan with Neil McDonald's side, and brings an end to a frustrating spell with The Rams.
