Charlton Athletic have appealed against Osei Sankofa's red card collected at Arsenal.
The young defender was given his marching orders in the first half at Emirates Stadium after referee Mike Riley decided he hauled down Robin van Persie and denied him a goal-scoring opportunity.
Charlton boss Alan Pardew was far from happy with the ruling as he believed van Persie was offside from Cesc Fabregas's initial shot while Talal El Karkouri also looked like he could beat the Dutch ace to the rebound.
However, Riley opted to dismiss Sankofa and The Gunners went on to claim a 4-0 success after Thierry Henry fired the North Londoners ahead from the ensuing penalty.
Pardew clearly feels Sankofa's punishment was too heavy and has lodged an appeal with The FA which could free him from the one-match suspension he would have to serve against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this weekend.
