Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez insists he will not look at the whole table but instead concentrate on the mini-league including his side, Tottenham and Bolton.
Liverpool will now come up against both Spurs and Bolton in the space of two days in a critical New Year program that could decide their season.
Benitez, who saw his side lose out 1-0 to Blackburn on Boxing Day, must now concentrate on ensuring Liverpool finish in the top four and clinch a UEFA Champions League place.
But the Spanish boss insists looking at the table would be a waste of time and instead wants to focus on his side's recent good form and keep them in a good position.
He told The Sun: "We won't look at the table. It's a waste of time.
"We know we now have to play Tottenham and Bolton who are in a league with us and very close together. We know how important it will be to beat these teams and stay in a good position.
"But despite the result against Blackburn we've been playing well. Sometimes these games happen, but we need to keep going and stay confident.
"All away games in the Premiership are difficult."
