Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has been warned to buck his ideas up after a poor run of form that has seen him score just once in his last 12 appearances.
The 25-year-old England striker missed several good chances in the 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers, with Reds boss Rafa Benitez having handed Crouch his first start in nearly a month.
Benitez told the Daily Post: "He was playing well, the only thing missing was the finish.
"If he's there on the end of chances that shows he is doing his job, but he needed to finish. As a striker, if you score a goal then you get more confidence.
"Peter is good in the air and it was our idea to use the pace of (Craig) Bellamy and height of Crouch. It was working and the only thing missing was the most important thing, the goal.
"I am happy with Peter and he can give us a lot of things. He can win balls in the air and keep the ball.
"Now we have better strikers and they all need to compete for their position."
