Mark Hughes is not ruling out the possibility of signing David Dunn in January.
The midfielder has struggled with injuries since quitting Blackburn for Birmingham in 2003, but is confident of shaking off a calf complaint in the near future.
Dunn has been linked with a move away from St Andrews and he fanned the flames on Tuesday when telling Sky Sports News he would consider returning to Blackburn.
The midfielder could well get his wish in January, as Hughes has hinted he would consider lodging a bid if Birmingham make him available for transfer.
"He is someone we know well and everyone has affection for David as a player and a person," said Hughes.
"But he is a player for another club and I am not at liberty to say what is revolving around him.
"All I will say is that if good players become available then we will look at every situation."
