Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is ready to accede to Gerard Houllier's request to bring a new striker to Lyon, with Nilmar thought to be the favourite to fill the role.
Lyon are again making hay on the domestic front and also coasted into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, but Houllier is concerned by his lack of striking options.
The club's sporting director Bernard Lacombe is at odds with Houllier over the signing of a striker, but it would appear as if the coach will win the battle of wills.
"I am used to listening to the coaches," Aulas told the club's website.
"When you take a coach of that quality, you listen to what he has to say.
"If Gerard Houllier needs another striker, even if the actual results are pretty good, we will take another one."
Lyon sold Nilmar to Corinthians last term, but the Brazilians have not yet paid the transfer fee and Fifa could step in to cancel the deal.
"We will see what Fifa will decide tomorrow or the day after," added Aulas.
"I think Nilmar should come back to Lyon very quickly.
"If he comes back, he will be given an additional opportunity.
"Then, Gerard will choose the player he wants. If he aims to persevere with Nilmar, he will keep him.
"If he wants us to make offers for players, we will try to give him satisfaction."
