Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has rubbished reports that he is looking to offload goalkeeper Jose Reina.
The 24-year-old Spain international arrived at Anfield for £6million in 2005 but after a series of high-profile blunders had been linked with a return to former club Valencia.
Reina went from villain to hero in last season's FA Cup final by redeeming an early misjudgement in the penalty shoot-out.
He also came under the microscope after fumbling Lee Carsley's shot and gifting Andy Johnson his second goal as Everton won the first Merseyside derby of this season 3-0 at Goodison Park.
However, Benitez has no plans to sell his compatriot and has scotched rumours of a January departure.
"I am surprised to hear about this," said the Reds boss. "We were not talking with Valencia.
"We are talking about his future, here, not at another club."
