  Mountain Bike is too vague. Its like a CAR.
  
  What car do u want? Or rather..what type of car do you want? same thing applies to Mountain Bike. SUspension, gears, wheelsets?

Nobody will treasure something that is NOT paid by them. And you are looking at a price of about $250 for low ends or $10,000 OR more. So get something else for him.

  Have fun =) But if he really loves cycling, ask him to get a bike himself, i got it myself, my own money and i treasure the bike more then what my dad got for me last time.

  You may want to visit Bike Haus Intl at Bukit Timah Road there . They having a christmas promotion now . 5% and 10% for bikes , depending on model. IF you buy a bike from them , you may (or may not) get a free Surfas rear light (worth $40) .
  
  I just bought a 2008 Scott Aspect 55 from them . Usual price is $710 , but after discount its about $675 i tink . Then i bought a Topeak Micro Rocket hand pump for $48 . So total is $725 . My mum asked for a further discount of $5 and the lady boss agreed , so final price becomes $720.
  
  Anyway , just buy a hardtail bike for your bro can oredi . Its good enuf . A hardtail bike is easier to maintain than a full suspension bike.
  
  Oh yes i forgot , if your bro is a rookie biker , i would suggest you go buy from Carrefour better . A Scott , Wheeler , Giant bike requires proper maintenance . Without it , the money you invested on the bike goes down the drain .

  Agreed . I'm working now , during the vacations . My dad helped me pay for the bike first , since christmas is coming . He say i can pay him back when my pay comes, which is before christmas as well . I bought a Scott Aspect 55 . Since Scott is my fav brand , i now cared and treasured the bike more than my previous bike .
  
  I now trying to save to buy a RockShox BoXXer World Cup front shock. That baby costs a whopping over $1000 . But the damping is superb and colour scheme is sexy too . I like riding on places like Bukit Timah Hill , where there are alot of steep downhills and hard bumps . The BoXXer just suits me , so now i asking for people's opinion.
