Change of tyres. pls help

Heres the situation.
My bike's front wheel has just got punchered. I have no will of repairing it but i would like to buy a new tyre instead.
Now heres the problem.
The front wheel i am currently using now is a road wheel. To change to a mountain wheel, do i need to change the whole rims or 'carcass' of the wheel or just the tyre itself ?
My front tyre is 1.4'

ehs...wheels? or jus rims? i dun think there's a need to change jus change the tyre + the inner tube will do

What bike you riding first?
How come your bike sounds like a cross between mountain bike and road bike?
If it's just a puncture, repair the inner tube. Bicycle shops do it. Costs $5 when I brought it to them for repair. -

den dun believe me and go ahead and change a new rim...i'll calculate the cost for u...say a SUN ditchwitch double wall rim- 140+/- if u use back current hub den hub dun nid count...den spokes...say a 36 hole so if use dt comp spokes...will be 36X2X$1=$72...+ wheel building fee both wheel $60...go calculate the cost lar...nb...give u advise hear lar...dun believe den ask for wad

There is no need to change the rim , a 26 inch rim should have no problem accomadating the mountain bike tires as most are available in 26 inch.

Just make sure there is enough clearance from the fork if your using those type of aero forks -

However, the road tyre is 1.4" while the mountain tyre is 2.3" in width. -
Jus STFU and stop typing in caps u moron...already given advise...if u r jus some stubborn small kids...by all means change the rim if u dun already believe wad that forumnites had said...
