Here are the local Jargons (Chimnology ) used by people in the SG cycling scene. Feel free to add on guys....
1) Endo- Being thrown over the handlebars by your bike...either by applying the front brake too hard or by striking an object on the ground
2)Stoppie- Delibrately jamming the front brakes in order to lift the rear wheel up while balancing the bike on the front wheel. Take caution that a mistake in performing a Stoppie can result in an Endo
3) Wheelie- By applying a sudden pedaling action , the bike's front wheel gets lifted up. Keep pedaling and leaning back to maintain the wheelie.
4) Manual- Same as wheelie, but u stop pedaling the moment the front wheel comes up and use weight shifting to move the bike forward.
5)Nose manual- same as manual, but using the front wheel
6) ABS braking- braking extremely hard...but your wheels still remain unlocked. An important skill needed in trails.
7) Half- clutch : Inching the bike froward VERY slowly. usually used when the road or sidewalk is crowded.
8 ) ECP- East Coast Parkway...not the Expressway!
9) BT- Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
10) Brakes buay Jiak (Brakes not eating ) - A condition where your brakes are not efficient enough when stopping your bike.
11) Street Riding- Riding along urban areas, dodging obstacles along the way
12) Tarmac Xc Rider - A XC (Cross Country ) rider who seldom rides offroad, and mostly rides on the road.
13) Round Island- A cycling trip around Singapore!
14) Poser - A person who buys an expensive bike or ZHNG his current bike with expensive stuffs for the sake of showing off and not for actual usage.
15) Weight Weenie - A cyclist who's trying all means to reduce the weight of his bike...obsessed with the usage of Carbon Fibre and Titanium bike stuffs.
16 ) Huckling- using a hardtail MTB to whack the trails hard hard.
17) LBS- Local Bike Shop
18 ) Undertaker - Riding into an indoor area with your bike without dismounting (the WWE's Undertaker does that all the time and I always "Undertaker "my bike into Hawker Centres and Sports Complexes )
