Once again, the Great Commission is to bring the gospel to the world. Why are you talking about success rate? Coming from a Reformed perspective, I can tell you salvation (who and how many) is the perogative of the sovereign God.Originally posted by breytonhartge:did the Holy scriptures say that all will be saved? no. only a remanant... don't quote me on this one, but I remember reading somewhere 1/3?? Not sure.
actually no, the Great Commission is not just bring the gospel to the world, but to make disciples of all nations, this the church has failed to do. That is why the church is in the state that it is in today. The discipleship is lost in a so called attempt to win more "souls" but are these conversions really conversions because we see so many backsliding and falling away...Originally posted by Icemoon:Once again, the Great Commission is to bring the gospel to the world. So what has your side done since the Great Commission was given?Originally posted by breytonhartge:actually no, the Great Commission is not just bring the gospel to the world, but to make disciples of all nations, this the church has failed to do. I fully agree with this statement, which is why i don't see the need to point fingers.Originally posted by Icemoon:So what has your side done since the Great Commission was given?
Both sides have failed big time lah. None has managed to bring the gospel to the world AND make disciples of all nations.
.... so true disciples don't backslide....????Originally posted by breytonhartge:actually no, the Great Commission is not just bring the gospel to the world, but to make disciples of all nations, this the church has failed to do. Disciples of Hashem lor!Originally posted by Chin Eng:For a Jew to fulfil the Great Commission he has to believe in Christ. So when you say that there have always been Jews making disciples... they are disciples of whom?

Icemoon,
For Brey
The article quite funny siah. I quote one part.Originally posted by Chin Eng:apparently a true Jew will never accept Jesus as the messiah
http://www.moshiach.com/questions/topten/jesus_as_the_messiah.php
Jews cannot sit idly by watching missionaries misleading their fellow religionists. There are too few Jews in the world today for us to afford defections to Christianity.
3. This is historical fact. So what's there to argue??Originally posted by Chin Eng:of course.... there is nothing else to say because
1. The Great Commission was given.
2. Those who knows isn't fulfilling it, for various reasons, some of which are crappy excuses at best. Of course there now claims that the Jewish people go around making disciples, which at the point of time may not include the Gentiles.
3. Those who attempted to fulfilled it are accused of kowtowing to the Romans.
4. In the meantime, varous accusations of corruption and deviation are hurled, inspite of the fact that the true bringer of good news are Gentile preachers.
5. Suddenly after about maybe 1900 over years, those who are suppose to be doing the job realised that they have do something about it, and accuse those who actually do the leg work that they are doing it wrong.
6. And in the meantime, there are still the large percentage of Jews who do not acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah.
I think "work faster" covers it all, seeing that there are about 2000 years of damage to clean up. All the best to your cleaning crew![]()
now who is bad mouthing who?Originally posted by Chin Eng:apparently a true Jew will never accept Jesus as the messiah

Personally, I find sites like this to be more consistent than what is usually presented here in DT.
Untenable position lah.Originally posted by breytonhartge:6. Don't worry, when Messiah returns, they will acknowledge Him. Don't forget the reason why the Jews do not acknowledge Messiah. It is so that we can have the opportunity to be grafted in. Do not be proud.

Definitely I am not bad mouthing you. Since you like to keep things "factual".... isn't it factual that true Jews don't think highly of Messianic Jews? Unless you tell me this is not fact....Originally posted by breytonhartge:now who is bad mouthing who?![]()

Actually what is so untenable? For all the hullabaloo... there is still no strong case for the Hebraic viewpoint to be untenable.Originally posted by Chin Eng:I am saying that I prefer one point of view to be more consistent than another point of view.... is that bad mouthing.... ???
I agree with ice because one can either take the Christian view or the Jewish view... to straddle between the two is, to borrow a word from ice, too untenable....
I told you liao.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Actually what is so untenable? For all the hullabaloo... there is still no strong case for the Hebraic viewpoint to be untenable.
