first one, yes and noOriginally posted by Agenda:just a question.. i gym alone 90% of the time, would it still be safe for me to do those free weights alone?
btw.. how to improve stamina? i wanna make me 2.4km timing to be around 10mins
nopOriginally posted by eagle:first one, yes and no
light sure safe
heavy depends.
However, it is better to have someone to train with you.
2.4, mixture of interval and jogging.
I did get close to 10.5 mins by jogging alone. However, if I had included interval last time, perhaps I could have been a bit faster Anyway 2.4km is only a very short distance, so should be able to train up fast
Have you gone through NS yet?

i think mine helped too, just that it will take a longer time than the HIIT described here.Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:what's a gd and effective interval like for training up stamina?
HIIT increases you stamina effectively? or it's more useful in buring away fats?Originally posted by eagle:i think mine helped too, just that it will take a longer time than the HIIT described here.
I only did one session and my stamina for swimming increased by leaps and bounds. 22 laps non-stop no problem, up from 2+ laps before a short break 2 weeks ago. I only stopped because I wanted to start homework.
But if you are referring to stamina in the gym, it is a different thing. I'm not as good in that.
if it is sprints, I believe HIIT would be more effective.Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:HIIT increases you stamina effectively? or it's more useful in buring away fats?
how many intervals is decent? say, for 100m sprints.
so does sprints of 100m increase your stamina and improve your 2.4 timing?Originally posted by eagle:if it is sprints, I believe HIIT would be more effective.
How many depends on how fit you are
I have never tried this, nor hear anyone try this before. So I cannot give any comments on this.Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:so does sprints of 100m increase your stamina and improve your 2.4 timing?
four sets of 100m sprints with 1min rest btwn each
er.. i dun live near a gym.. plus i hate gymsOriginally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:lazy bugger
go to a nearest public exercise station and whack many many pull ups and many many parallel bar dipsOriginally posted by shinta:er.. i dun live near a gym.. plus i hate gyms
pls reserve comments like this to urself
If you hate gym, then your choices are limited. Don't expect too much. In fact, don't expect anything at all. With so many SSC gyms around, there's no excuse not to go to one.Originally posted by shinta:er.. i dun live near a gym.. plus i hate gyms

burpees is u bend over hands on the floor den kick out both legs into psuh up position den pull back den stand up is it?Originally posted by Simon Dean:SSC= Singapore sports council. The ever political sports commitee.
Then why not try inclined pullups and decline pushups for you since you are a female.THen build up slowly into rather pullups and pushups/dips.
One of the best bodyweight exercise for legs and a great fat-burner is burpees.
Since you beginner maybe try 7 burpees rest 10 sec and keep repeating.Find this too easy then increase burpees or decrease rest.
ok the stadium is 7 bus stops away frm my plc... if i take bus down i need to chg bus to get thereOriginally posted by galapogos:Almost every public stadium and swimming pool will also have a public gym. Entrance is $2.50 for adults and there are cheaper monthly rates too. Equipment is quite ok. Just make sure that the equipment required in the FAQ is also available at the gym. If you're a girl, this exercise guide is made specifically for you.
Decline pushups are something supporting your legs behind and you do pushups.Originally posted by shinta:got 1 kind hor is chair behind me den my body tilt er 45 degrees i think, chair behind supporting my hand den i lower myself down body straight
