From my honest point of view, the personal training of what i see today is just a brief run-through of gym machines.
Tons of isolations and almost nil compound movements.
90% machine training circuit
The regime also seems like what is copied out of a flex-magazine that any idiot can do it himself.
I dont really see my friends improve much after this sessions...

If you are learning how to use a machine, you dont need a PT.You can PM me and i will help you out during my free time.

seriously not worth it..
actually u can make frens in gym n ask them to be ur support buddy when carrying wts n u also return the favour by helping them...n u can always take a notebook to record down wat u did previously as a record etc..

I have seen BIG PTs train their clients...and they basically do a circuit on the Nautilus, that's all.

You dont need to pay $70/session to learn how to work on machines.Because machines are meant to be "idiot-proof" already though i am not advocating the entire usuage of them..

Only a few PTs are exceptionally worth it..

The classic case
The 1.8m 60kg guy doing tricep kickbacks with 5kg under the guidance of a lady trainer.
beside him
The 1.8m near 90kg doing weighted dips with 25kg.
No prize for guessing who has the bigger triceps?

A good PT is good. Doh, this is common sense. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mediocre or downright bad ones out there who are in it just for the money. They don't have the necessary knowledge, and they don't bother to upgrade themselves by reading/research/learning new stuff. They stick to what they've been taught at whatever school/certification institute that provided them with their cert, even if it's not the best way of doing things.
I have to say though that a good PT is of invaluable assistance. Having a good PT would cut down the time required for results, and also impart to you knowledge so that you can continue to get results after the contract is complete.
