OPT,this question is directed at you.
A complex involves two or more exercises performed in a sequence without rest using the same load. Each exercise is performed through a set number of reps before moving onto the next exercise.
Sample:
A. Romanian Deadlift
B. Bent Over Barbell Rows
C: Hang Clean
D: Push Press
E: Front Squats
So you are using the same load for all exercises - no need to change weights or equipment - in the above sample the bar does not leave your grip till all exercises are completed.
Which is better for fat loss in your opinion?
I'm guessing complexes and combinations are very similar in terms of function? The former involves completing all reps of 1 lift before continuing to the other, and the latter involves cycling through all lifts before continuing to the next rep?
Does it have to be that the bar doesn't leave your hand? What if I add stuff like pushups or pullups into the complex/combo?
They are called finishers
OK, so let me get the definitions straight
Combinations - a series of 2 or more barbell/dumbbell lifts performed in a cycle where 1 repetition of the lift is performed, followed by the next lift, before moving on to the next repetition. The barbell/dumbbell doesn't leave the hand throughout the set.
Complexes - a series of 2 or more barbell/dumbbell lifts performed in a cycle where all repetitions of a lift is performed before moving on to the next lift. The barbell/dumbbell doesn't leave the hand throughout the set.
Finishers - Same as combo/complexes except non barbell/dumbbell exercises such as pushups/pullups may be added. The barbell/dumbbell may leave the hand within the set.
Correct?
