as long as his butt/glutes has contact with the bench, it is legit i suppose.
I do mine with a slight arch as well but not that extreme.And i still go full ROM.
If he doesnt do good mornings/deadlifts /lower back exercises for that matter.His arch is gonna cause him an extreme lower back ache in the future.
Sure those powerlifters use an extreme arch but they have the core strength to safely do so and they are experienced.
anyway whats the big deal about doing 2 plates a side.I find it totally absurd that people are only willing to work-out with the olympic barbells if they can only start with 1-2 plates a side.Then whats the purpose of going to the gym if you are already that "strong" naturally?
I saw some dragon-boaters today working out on the bench-press.Going all out to 120kg with reps that are forced and partial.They definately bring their "teamwork" with them to the gym..just because 10+ people row a boat doesnt mean they should do the same in the bench press.
