My brother brought me to the gym and gave me a very brief idea on working out.
The rest was going to the internet and reading those VERY OLD SCHOOL principles on weight-training such as still retaining bodyweight exercises like chin-ups and dips on parallel bars + compound movements and discouraging overuse of isolation exercises.
I was using machines at first.After reading more and more from t-nation.I threw the machines entirely out of my routine except for those cable pulley machines(even so used sparingly only).
And lastly i emphasise.
You want gains, workout on the free weights compound movements.Though it causes more muscle "pain".But NO PAIN NO GAIN.
A compound movement is a movement that invovles many big muscle groups or even 90% of the entire body to do.
