Today went out with this lady friend,we chit chatted and ended up talking about gym-ing.She is a member of Cali and I suggested going to take a look at the facilities since I have always been very curious about this.
At the entrance need to sign in,saw quite a number of poser types there-eg wear branded singlet+trackpants+with a nice gelled hairdo.Oh ya,saw 2 nice babes who dressed nicely also.
Went to fill up some forms then the guy brought me around the area.Lotsa cardio machines.Oh well,no need for those.Next to the resistance training section my favourite.
Lots of fanciful looking space age machines around. Some I don't even know what they are used for.Hit the free weights section and looked around for the power rack. There isnt one to be seen....*shrugs* Later I found out from the manager that all Cali branches do not have power racks. But I was surprised to see a chrome plated squat rack with hexagonal plates. As expected,no one was using it.Next the dumbbell area. This,I was most impressed. There are dumbbells in increments of 2.5kg from a puny 2.5kg all the way up to the heaviest of 110lb or 50kg.What's more the weights look very shiny.Like chrome plated.Damm if only Clubfit has such heavies around.Again,no one was at the dumbbell area also. All in all, everything in Cali was very shiny-a stark contrast to Clubfit where I often get rust in my hands after handling the free weights.
The staff asked me to sign straightaway but I was forewarned about this by my friend so I refused and asked for and ended up getting a 7 day free trial.Maybe next week, I go play with the big dumbbells over there and try using the chrome plate barbell for my squats.Haha.
The membership cost is a cool $110+ to $120+ per month depending on which scheme you sign up for.On top of that, you need to pay a $100 "processing fee".$1500+ for a year's gym membership? Not for me thank you!
Overall impression:this place is good for chilling out and getting to know hot babes, maybe not for training. The costs are out of the question also.Nevertheless,it was an eye opener for me.
