Any skills/tips to share for bowlers trying to increase their average? I'm trying to meet my target of doubling my average... I bowled a few years ago then quitted for a few years and now I'm back in my beloved CCA again. But the thing is... my average dropped to 79-85 (my average WAS 120) and I have to improve. Any skills? Not just for skills lah, can share some of your bowling experiences ;D
I'm a right-hander, I use reactive and can hook.
throw straight for all ur spare. u miss the head pin once mostly will miss it again.
Gee, thanks! I'll try it out when I have time.
I can understand your situation cos I'm on the same boat as you. I was active in bowling for 4 years and stop for 4 years due to work and studies. I have just restarted a week ago with a new ball drilled (both my mid and high performace balls have cracked beyond repair).
If you have picked up bowling through CCA, I'm sure your coach would have got you started with drills. Kneel down drill, no step drill, one step drill and so on. If you want to go back to your previous skill level, there is no easy way out. Work on your foundation first and your score will soon go up.
I hasbay2005, throw straight for spare but you need not follow if you have your own style of picking up spares. I bowl straight by breaking my wrist, it just go straight and never come back.
1 big problem that I am working now, I need to get use to my 15 pds ball. It will take a month or 2 with consistant training at home and on the lanes.
Good things that I experience for taking such a long break. I threw aside my wrist guard and focus on training my wrist power (gd for the yoyo release technique that can impart more revs on the ball). I learn how to use my power step with a slight change to my 4 step approach. I can balance better now and have a smoother ball release. Sometimes it is good to forget the bad habits that I used to have.
Most importantly...have fun bowling!!
