Hi unclebutcher
Agree with what you said
"no coach will tell u to spin, unless of cuz its natural"
The reason is quite similar to the Cranker, there are not many who know's how to coach Helicopter Spin here in SG as well, but we can't denied the fact that ther are many who can do it well in SG.
These days, especially for the younger generation, if really is seriuosly considering to take up bowling as "Core Activities" or hoping to make it to the National Team one day, it is strongly recommended to learn to bowl with heavy balls, Stroking, Tweening, Cranking(Power Bowling), Sid Allen which SBF had engaged as (I think) adviser had strongly recommended Power Bowling.
One of his favourite subject is Wu Siu Hong of HKG , considering being "small" in build, but a powerful bowler, He hopes to see more Power Bowler coming out from Asia, if Wu SH can do it, so can the rest, coz its the technique, sadly
not many coaches here can coach a power bowler.
Yet........
However, for those who are not going that distance, all styles of bowling can be considered as OPTIONS, including Spinning.
My simplest or rather the "lamest"
reason for going for spinning is most economical, literally "Having 1 ball will travel" and "Happy go Lucky"
And if Luck can count, it can go all the way to string as many strike as one can hope for........., I did
Cheers
