Frankly speaking, you shouldn't replug a ball too many times. not more than 3 definitely. If you are bowling for competition, definitely dun use any replug balls, especially if you are aiming for perfect game prize. Very likely you will be disqualified.Originally posted by apple*:Regarding replug -
If the layout of the ball is being changed, curious to know is there a maximum number of replug allowed?
If a ball is being replug for the 3rd time, will it change the ball reaction and roll eratically?
Yes if ou continue to use most likely it will crack further. Cracks are generally due to defects in balls, mayb due to long storage, or sometimes even hot weather. Dun be surprise that the ball may already be damaged even before you first throw it. i.e. it has been stored improperly in warehouse.Originally posted by PeterShilton:I had found a cracked on thumb hole of my ball, been using the ball less than a year...lately the crack seems getting more obvious..
Is it due to over use causes the crack further? I been using it as my main ball as well as sparing...it seems the crack is near the track line....
If i continue to use, will it further the crack?? Has anyone else had a problem of cracking balls?
What shall i do?
Crack at the thumb hole near the track line? Meaning your ball rolling over your thumb hole at some instance? Then maybe you might wanna change your technique.Originally posted by PeterShilton:I had found a cracked on thumb hole of my ball, been using the ball less than a year...lately the crack seems getting more obvious..

I'm not into bowling, but according to physics and mechanics, the crack will get largerOriginally posted by PeterShilton:I had found a cracked on thumb hole of my ball, been using the ball less than a year...lately the crack seems getting more obvious..

I'm not sure but I dun think there's a restriction on replug balls in tournaments. They'll have someone to check and measure all the balls, (at least for the overseas tourys) as long as the difference in weight at 3 axis is within some tolerance, and there is no foreign objects sticking on the ball, I think it's fine.Originally posted by enginboi:Frankly speaking, you shouldn't replug a ball too many times. not more than 3 definitely. But for training ball no harm to replug, good to have some trial and error to see what suits you best.

I have come across someone that bowls with a replug ball and hit a perfect game, after which, "Superbxxl" declared he disqualified, cos according to the rules, balls need to be "round". Replugs make the ball slightly distorted. It is one of the cheap ways for organisers to disqualify you, esp when u win and is getting some money. So for leisure or for normal competition no harm, but if you aiming to bowl in some big competitions with some high prizes, try not to use a replug ball.Originally posted by airgrinder:I'm not sure but I dun think there's a restriction on replug balls in tournaments. For plastic balls, think no problem with replugging several times. But for your strike ball, i agreed with enginboi, the reaction might be altered if there are too many replugs, and esp if your tracks are over it.
Oh ya, .. I think i should keep up with rules to leagues and tournaments, guess u are right, there should be some standard set of rules and agreement for bowling balls.Originally posted by enginboi:Frankly speaking, you shouldn't replug a ball too many times. not more than 3 definitely. Heard abt team mates talking about some changes in drilling in year to come. You got any idea?Originally posted by enginboi:I have come across someone that bowls with a replug ball and hit a perfect game, after which, "Superbxxl" declared he disqualified, cos according to the rules, balls need to be "round". Hi Apple,Originally posted by apple*:Heard abt team mates talking about some changes in drilling in year to come. You got any idea?
In the year of 2008, no bowling ball will be allowed a side weight hole?
Is that means that any ball which were drilled before Jan 2007 will be obsolete? If yes, then how to determine if the ball was drilled before Jan 2008 if this is correct? Hopefully this is just a rumour
Oh..thanks..Originally posted by mica2005:Hi Apple,
I think that only apply oversea not in singapore
Cheers!
This is not a rumour, it is a rule that one of the international federation wants to implement. Once it is implement, all tournaments sanctioned by that particular congress will have to follow.Originally posted by apple*:Heard abt team mates talking about some changes in drilling in year to come.
