Singapore bowlers take third position in 40th International Open
SINGAPORE : Singapore bowlers Remy Ong and Cherie Tan came in third in the 40th Singapore International Open 2007 held at Velocity@Novena Square.
It is the first time in the worldÂ’s bowling history that the Step Ladder Final is held in a shopping mall.
And its organisers hope that this will help bring the sports closer to the masses.
By holding the event at such an unusual setting, the organisers have left their mark in the Singapore Book of Records.
This year event saw the highest number of participants — 107 bowlers from overseas and 358 from Singapore.
29—year—old Remy took third place in the Men’s Finals.
The first place went to FinlandÂ’s Mika Koivuniemi, who walked away with a cash prize of S$25,000 while Malaysia bowler Daniel Lim came in second.
In the WomenÂ’s Finals, Zatil Iman from Malaysia took the top spot and the cash prize of S$5,000 and compatriot Sharon Koh secured second place.
