Bowling League Anyone? 2007/08

  The current season is coming to an end soon again.
  
  We are recruiting new members to join our team Spooky Angels for the new Season.
  
  Preferred with SBF official ave;
  Male, ave 170 to 190 +/-
  
  Female, ave 150-160+/
  
  Our Motto :-
  We are not that good , but we can surely Spook
  
  P.S.
  Completely Newbies need not apply. Coz It'll too stressful for many(loosing too many points).
  
  Bowling is meant to be Fun(Win/Draw), whether we like it or not, its gonna hurt, especially by huge margins.

  hi....i no sbf average ... and i'm 16 yrs old only... but my average can vary wildly...sometimes get 400 series (lol) sometimes get 700 series(once only) my average is around 140-170...cannot make it ah

  dun think i can make it, its been like a year since i bowled well use to have average of 190 but it seems like i can only get such scores at SAFRA lanes

  thats weird...seems like i average the best at superbowl mount faber, and funnily at both the marina superbowls(victors superbowl and the one next to it with uncle walter's pro shop) and worst at safra yishun and chevrons (oiled the same way).
  
  never bowled at planet bowl before though ....

  Juz to share,
  
  For those of you who can post a better score at a particular bowling centre, its probably you may have drilled you bowling balls at the centre's proshop, correct me if I'm wrong.
  
  Reason being, if you are new to the bowling sports, the proshop would ask you where would bowl more frequently, they try their best to drilled a ball to suit the conditions of "That" particular centre.
  
  But if you happens to hop around and bowling hook style, you will encounter challenges of various lane types.
  
  That's why for casual bowlers, it better to learn spin, 1 ball will travel.
  But if you are more serious type, and learn hook bowling, you will need to have at least 2 balls 1 for Wood lanes & 1 for Synthetic lanes.

  yup safra mt faber was one of the better lanes, got a 22+ there also

  i go for long skid...if thats the right term to use......man i'm getting rusty when it comes to bowling.

  agreed to what u have mentioned! i bowl hook and faced problem if i am bowling funbowl and tournments at other alleys for the 1st game...so envy spinners or straight bowlers...their adapt for lanes is much more beta...
  
  btw, u have any ideas how is country club lanes condition i.e. serangoon country club.....Got problem here..serangoon c/club is synthetic lanes but their 'synthetic' is so much difference from other bowling alleys...the ball jus skid and hit straight...OMG!

  I may not be the best person to advise you the lane condition at SGCC, the best person there is the centre manager or mechanics there.
  
  I was there few month back, and the regulars(ladies) ther can bowl pretty well with simple hook.
  
  Have you experiment to use the same ball to bowl at diff. lines?(Save Cost)
  U know, Its good to know how 1 ball reactions to diff. lines.
  
  I advovate versitality in bowling, not all agrees with me, but I find it enjoyable to experiment and brush up the accuracy skills.

  As for diff lines, at most i will shift 2 boards onli...still not so adventures yet..maybe should try see how my ball react...

  Please keep the price low......coz ppl who is buying will still have to pay for the replugg & drilling, easily another S$30-80 bucks, depending on brand/condition of resale balls.
  
  We all know its quite costly to buy new balls.
  
  We used to buy 2nd hand balls from S$30-80 for some high end balls, hence pls. be realistic on asking price when selling yeah..... Cheers.

  Erm, i have an inferno...the orange & yellow one...i forgot what inferno that is & a timezone (solid black polished)....both are 14lbs with the trolley bag.
  
  The inferno, i bought it when it was 1st introduced @ $320 & the timezone @ $280.
  
  Anyone keen....both balls are in tip top condition. I don't even know how much to sell them for?
  
  Is $200 for everything ok a price? Thanks in advance

  no way. maybe 50 per ball is reasonable.

  i've got something to say. you do not want to be a spinner. a spinner demands pinpoint accuracy at just about 19th board to strike. hook has a way bigger margin of error,even if you miss by 5 boards it still might come back.
  
  for bowling balls, there is a correlation between bowling styles and lanes . for synthetics(eg safra mt faber and yishun) strokers and tweeners are at an advantage. for wood(eg victors superbowl), high speed crankers have an advantage. wood lanes have higher friction. higher friction= higher hook. however, higher friction means more roll out for those who have no strength. thus alot of power is needed for wooden lanes to score well. however synthetics are more forgiving and consistent.
  
  so if you regularly bowl at wood centres ,i advise you to get a ball which goes long and unleashes its power at the backend(skid- snap) for synthetics ,anything will do, skid -snap or high hook balls.

  To me, there's no right or wrong whichever style, all need to have accuracy, the problem with most spinner is their strike rates, whereas for hook, tweener, stroke, powerbowler is with their spares and splits.
  
  What I am saying is that , if anyone who is in for serious bowling at the competative level, should pick up for Hook/Stroke/Power, coz once polsihed with the proper techniques and regular training under coaches(as in the nat'l team) it is advantages. (High Investments on equipments, High Satisfaction and High frustration)
  
  Whereas for those who is going for leisure and less competative to self learned thorugh trial and error, spinning can achive higher average due to better sparing. (Decent investment, decent satisfaction and less fraustrations)
