Having long been famous for its brilliant culture and civilization, Chengdu is a city with perfect harmony between people and nature. It’s full of vitality and a unique ambience of comfort and leisure. As strong advocates of personality, harmony and being magnanimous, the Chengdu people have a deep love for their life and work. They are enjoying life while continuing efforts to improve their quality of life. Zhu Zhihong, Vice Mayor of the Chengdu Municipal Government, said when addressing the ceremony.
Choosing the most fascinating cities through public voting on the Internet, Sina.com started sponsoring the program in 2002, which included another 46 categories like “financial people of the year” and “the people of environmental protection of the year.” The annual program enjoys high prestige among the Chinese people. This one was the largest ever covering the most popular online topics concerning news, sports, entertainment and life. Over one million Internet users participated in the activity starting last November.
