Your PBL problem will be solving a simple crime.
It is something like CSI.
You will get to visit a crime scene that we set up, do simple experiments to test what happened to the victim. 15 minutes is all you have to solve the crime. There will be student teachers there to guide you to solve this problem. Resources are also given to you to help you solve the problem.
Rules:
1) Get into groups of 5.
2) Read the problem carefully, follow the instructions to do the experiments. All safety precautions are to be adhered. For example, you are to wear gloves and goggles when doing experiments with chemicals.
3) Each team is only entitled to 3 resources.
4) Ask for specific resources only. For example, ask "Do you have resources about conducting Benedict's test?" NOT "Do you have resources about conducting experiments?"
5) Nobody is allowed to step into the laboratory. Only lab techicians are allowed. If you need to conduct some experiments which requires you to step into the laboratory, please give your samples to the lab technicians on duty. Tell him what experiment you want to do and he will conduct it for you. -

But based on my one year in RP, I have to say the learning experience is very good, better than the memorization of facts. We learn how to apply the facts.
But the learning experience is tough. The problem that is given to you is very open-ended, so expect a lot of answers for the same question, except for the science module. Sometimes, the problem is also vague. You have to assume some things so that you can progress on. You have to conduct some research on the Net, go to the library to read up to solve the problem. Sounds a lot, but actually isn't. All of you will work in groups of 5, and the work is split up. So each and everyone of you will do a different part of the problem. At the end of the day, you will have to present your solutions to your classmates.
Facilitators aka teachers will ask you questions on how you arrive at the conclusion, why you choose this particular solution. Your classmates will also question you if they don't agree you. -
