Motorists can use the new Kallang Way Flyover from Sunday
Motorists travelling between Sims Way and Nicoll Highway have a new and shorter route to try out, come Sunday morning.
Motorists travelling on the Pan-Island Expressway towards Changi can make use of the new two-lane, Kallang Way Flyover to head towards Sims Avenue, Guillemard Road and Nicoll Highway.
The flyover is located at the interchange between the PIE and the future Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway.
The Land Transport Authority says motorists using it could save nearly 20 minutes during peak hours and 10 minutes during off-peak hours.
They also avoid four traffic junctions along Kallang Way, Aljunied Road and Lorong 22 Geylang.
This flyover is the second of three flyovers costing a total of $256 million.
The first flyover was opened last year September and the third flyover will open mid-2007.
The three flyovers will form the 12 km Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway that will stretch from East Coast Parkway to Tampines Expressway.
And two-thirds of this expressway will be underground.
Prior to the opening of the Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway, several roads will be closed in the wee hours of the mornings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the placing of gantry signs and other works. - CNA/ch
